The Taraba State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of CP Edwin Ogbeghagha, psc, mnips, as the 34th Commissioner of Police in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah, said Ogbeghagha took over from CP Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, who retired from the Nigeria Police Force after a distinguished career.
The statement said the new Commissioner brings extensive professional and operational experience to the Command.
He said Ogbeghagha’s assumption of duty marks a renewed commitment to strengthening security, protecting lives and property, and sustaining peace across the state.
Addressing the people of Taraba, the new Commissioner pledged to adopt proactive, intelligence-led and community-oriented policing, while strengthening collaboration with sister security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders.
He urged the state government and members of the public to provide timely and credible information on suspicious activities, assuring residents that such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Ogbeghagha also warned criminals and their collaborators to desist from unlawful activities, stressing that the command would remain determined to confront crime and bring offenders to justice.
He assured residents that their safety and security would remain his top priority, and urged them to remain law-abiding and security-conscious.
